Palle Suenson Pair of Side Chairs
Palle Suenson pair of rare rosewood and leather side chairs by I.C.A. Jensen, 1939. Nailed leather, rosewood frame with profiled front legs. Presumably manufactured by Cabinetmaker I.C.A. Jensen. Manufactured in 1939-1942 for large commercial premises in Aarhus. Palle Suenson was in charge of designing the building and the furniture, many of which were custom made for this purpose. In the same period, Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller erected Aarhus City Hall, where H. J. Wegner designed the furniture. Many well-known architects have over time been employed at Palle Suenson’s design studio, including Hans J. Wegner, Poul Kjærholm, Jørgen Bo, Henning Jensen and others.
